Batteries:
Planning ahead is a part of being safe on the road. To be able to plan ahead, you need to know how far you are going to be able to travel, before running out of charge. It comes with mobility scooter accessories and guidelines for how much range they can travel. That range is concluded after the scooter being fully charged, so if you don't charge them fully, they might stop mid way. To get the most out of your batteries, it is recommended that you charge your batteries, for the first time for least 12 hours and keep them fully charged then after.

Brakes:
Mainly electric mobility scooters come with inertia, so they will come naturally to a halt, when you ease off on the power. Whenever you set off on a journey, you do need to check that they are working. Once you are done checking it properly, try your scooter out and confirm it by riding it. Before setting out for your journey, you should make sure it is stopping correctly. You would not want to take any risk with the breaks, so testing it is must, before going out for a ride. It is recommended you, to get your brakes serviced once a year, in order to make sure they are working correctly.

Tyres:
To make sure your tyres are in the best possible condition; for keeping you safe, you should always check your tyres, before setting out for your journey. The condition of tyres should be good, to avoid accidents. For more safety on the road, get a mobility scooter with powerful front lights and indicators. You should also get them tested and checked periodically to make sure there is nothing you have missed.

Keys:
This is perhaps an obvious point, but mostly people forget the ones that are obvious. You should know that, your scooter is something some people will want to steal so in order to make sure that you always have a scooter to return, it is suggested to remove your keys, whenever you leave your scooter; to keep it safe. For emergency purpose, it's worth having spare keys for family members, so if you accidentally lose your own key and find yourself stranded, your family will have a spare one to help you.

Test drive:
It is easy to ride a mobility scooter, once you become familiar with all the parts, but for that, it is suggested to always try it first before buying. Always insist on having a test drive and make sure that, you ride it on surfaces that you are most likely to encounter and make sure you feel comfortable using it. This is one of the, walking aids for elderly as it becomes easy, once you learn how to ride it. When making a turn, always remember to indicate and try to keep as far left as possible for cars to easily over take you.
