One of the major advantages of resistance bands over traditional free weights or even a home gym like Bowflex, is the fact that it does not require the use of gravity or in this case weight, to provide you the resistance needed to strengthen and build muscle mass.
There are certain principles for bodybuilding and building muscle that apply to everyone regardless of the type of equipment you use.
For example, if you're looking to increase your strength you want to exercise in the 6 to 8 rep range.
For greater muscle size you want to keep your repetitions between 8 to 12 reps.
And of course, if you're looking for muscular endurance anything from 12 to 20 repetitions will create that for you.
One of the advantages of the Bodylastics resistance bands home gym system is that it allows you to perform more than 140 health club quality type exercises in the comfort and convenience of your home.
Now I don't know if that's important to you but, when I was 50 pounds overweight going to the gym and putting on workout clothing was not how my hit parade.
The problem with most exercise equipment that's available for use in the home is that it's too expensive.
Come on let's face it the Bowflex home gym runs for about almost $2000 and so does the Total Gym.
Sure, you can go out and buy yourself a pair of adjustable dumbbells, bench, and a variety of different exercise equipment but it's still going to run you a couple of hundred bucks.
In addition, you need to have a spare room, perhaps your basement.
Just some kind of area in order to store and exercise with all this equipment.
You see that's the beauty of resistance bands! They can be stored easily, they're relatively inexpensive, and you can perform -- with the Bodylastics exercise bands -- more than 140 health club quality type exercises, as mentioned earlier.
Now if you asked me, one of the other advantages of resistance bands versus free weights is that resistance bands provide what is called "dynamic resistance.
" Dynamic resistance is just a fancy way of saying that as you perform the exercise with fitness bands the resistance increases as complete the movement.
Let me give you another example, let's take a regular old bicep curl.
With free weights the weight or resistance in this case stays the same throughout the entire exercise movement.
With Bodylastics bands or any other type of exercise tubing, the resistance increases as you continue to perform the curl towards completion.
That in a nutshell is dynamic resistance.
In another article I will reveal to you some of the best fitness to the exercises to easily add an inch of rockhard muscle to your chest, shoulders, arms.
