Fremont, Nebraska, plays host to a great country music festival each year. The Rural Roots Music Gathering, held in October, is Fremont's only country music festival and features more than 100 artists. But if you are looking for a few more festivals to satisfy your country need, there are several other festivals held in nearby towns.

    Rural Roots Music Gathering

    • Held in early October, the Rural Roots Festival features more than 100 music performers from world-class musicians to amateurs and beginners. An extension of the Pioneer Ag Expo and held at Christensen Field House, the festival runs for three days and offers great music paired with some down-home country cooking each day. Started by Jack and Florence Arnold as a way to bring country music fans together, it is now run by Bob and Sheila Everhart and features some leading performers. Past acts include John McEuen from the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Jackie Shewey, Terry Smith, and Lorraine Worth. RV camping is available on site and spaces are available with or without hook-ups. Individual and three-day passes are available and lawn chairs are recommended as there are few places to sit.
