When booking your VILLAS IN MALLORCA you have just chosen the most coveted holiday destination in all of Spain. This island playground is situated in the Mediterranean just off the mainland cost of Spain. Mallorca is the largest island in the Balearic Islands which also includes Menorca, Ibiza, Formentera and Cabrera.
The north-western and eastern regions of the island are occupied by mountains: the Serra de Tramuntana which also has the highest peak, Puig Major at 1,445 metres tall. The municipality of Fornalutx is home to the Alfabia Mountains and Els Cornadors. The Badia de Pollenca and the larger Badia d' Alcudia are the only two bays located on Mallorca. This will give you some idea of the rugged beauty the island possesses.
Mallorca has a typical Mediterranean island climate except for the mountains which can get some snow during the winter months. Mallorca has been home to a set of celebrities which includes Catherine Zeta Jones and her husband Michael Douglas along with sports people like Michael Schumacher and Boris Becker.
Mallorca has so much to offer that is hard to know where to begin. There is a plethora of water sports, marvellous cuisine, art galleries, museums, parks, theatres and shopping malls not to leave out the bars, pubs, restaurants and clubs plus much more. There are also a number of resorts and places such as Palma de Mallorca, Playa de Palma, Santueri Castle, Bellver Castle, Palma cathedral, Mallorca caves, Place Major, Soller, Mallorca harbour and Place d'Espanya plus many others.
The largest city and the island's capital is Palma de Mallorca. If you see nothing else on the island, you must pay a visit to this magnificent city. The city of Palma is situated on the north western end of the bay in the island's south west section. Mallorca is a haven of history and activities including the Castell de Bellver that is home to the Museum of Archaeological and Classical Sculptures along with Muslim ruins, an archaeological dig site. Other places of interest are the Pueblo Espanol, the Museo Catedralicio and the Catedral de Mallorca. Not to be left out are the Arabic baths, the Museum of Contemporary Art and La Seu, a Roman Catholic cathedral. If you venture down to the edge of Mallorca's port you will see the Muslim palace Banu Ganiya.
If you would like to access the mountainous area where you will find such cities as Soller, Pollenca, Alcudia and Andratx in a scenic, leisurely manor, there is a train from Palma or you can take the train from Soller to the Mallorca Caves in Port de Soller. This is probably one of the most visited sites in all of Mallorca.
When you arrive at your VILLAS IN MALLORCA, you will probably fly into the Palma de Mallorca airport; that is, if you didn't come by boat. There are ferries running from all the other Balearic Islands as well as from points along the Spanish mainland, including Valencia and Barcelona.
