- 1). Choose a citation style and stick with it through the entirety of your paper. Common styles are American Psychological Association (APA), Chicago and Modern Language Association (MLA). Refer to the style manual for specific nuances of your chosen style.
- 2). Write down the following information about the business plan you intend to cite: the name of the author, the year it was written and who published it (if it was published). Use the name of the business if the author is unknown.
- 3). Use footnotes or parenthesis for in-text citations (based on which citation you chose). For a business plan, include the name of the author (if known) or use the name of the business. Include the page number where you found the information.
- 4). Include the business plan information in your works cited list, typically found at the end of your paper. Regardless of the citation style you chose, the citation in-text should easily lead readers to find the full source in your works cited list. For business plans, include all the information about the work: the name of the author, the company name, the year it was written and who published it. Title the document "Business Plan of [Company]" if no other title was given.
