Description of protection

• The law ensures no whistle-blowing employee can be the recipient of personnel discipline or unfairness because of their disclosure.
  
  

OSC

• The Office of Special Counsel (OSC) was born with the Act and investigates punishment claims after reporting a misdeed.
  
  

Enhancing protection

• The Whistleblower Protection Enhancement Act of 2007 was proposed to grant further protection and as of 2009 has not been signed into law. The expanded legislation would extend protection to employees of government bodies who deal with national security issues and employees of corporations that deal with government employees.
  
  

Enhancing Liability

• The 2007 Act would also hold accountable those in scientific fields preparing information for the government.
