- 1). Cut two of the sleeve pieces from two different fabrics. Cut one from a darker fabric and one from white fabric or a much lighter color of fabric. Cut the lighter fabric about 3 inches larger than the dark fabric on all sides.
- 2). Place a small strip of interfacing over each area of the sleeve where you want to cut the slashes. Iron the interfacing to the back of the dark sleeve. Cut a 1- to 2-inch slit through the interfacing and the fabric.
- 3). Align the edges of the sleeve and pin in place. Allow the excess material of the white sleeve to sit in the middle of the sleeve. Sew the white fabric to the back of the dark fabric. Pull the white fabric through the slits.
- 4). Sew the sleeve to the garment. Adjust the slits with small hand-sewn stitches, holding the slits together in desired areas, or holding the white fabric outside of the slit, if necessary.
