- Four miles of pristine beaches, a Civil War museum and the North Carolina Aquarium beckon visitors to Fort Fisher on the southern end of Pleasure Island. The Fort Fisher State Recreation Site offers an escape from the more hectic vacation style of nearby Myrtle Beach.
