- Take the blinds down from the wall and undo the knot at the end of the cord or cut it with scissors. Lay the blinds on a flat work surface and undo the cord from all the holes in the slats. Measure the old string with a tape measure and cut the new one accordingly. Put the string through the cord lock and top rail of the blinds. Lace the cord through each hole in the slats.
Pull the string through the hole in the bottom rail, and tie a knot in the string beneath the bottom rail so it does not come undone.
