What is Cellulite and How Exercise Prevents it

If your personal appearance suffers from the formation of unsightly bumps and blemishes, then at least you can take comfort in the fact that you are not alone.
In fact, nearly ninety percent of women have some form of this problem.
Despite the fact that we can all recognize it when we see it, what exactly is cellulite anyway? Cellulite is just excess body fat that has become trapped just beneath the skin.
Interestingly, men suffer from this problem much less often than women.
The reason is genetic, as men organize their fat in connective tissue that runs parallel to their skin.
That means that when men gain weight the buildup of fat is much smoother.
However women organize fat parallel to their skin.
The result is a pulling down effect which creates the bulges of fat known as cellulite.
As every woman knows, once formed it can be very difficult to get rid of.
The good news is that cellulite can be treated.
While unfortunately because of its genetic nature there is no outright cure.
However much can still be done to minimize cellulite and improve its appearance.
The goal of all treatments is to diminish the appearance and amount of fat underneath the top layer of skin.
Some treatments attempt to smooth out the skin by using massage techniques.
Other more advanced treatments attempt to melt the fat underneath the skin so that it can be circulated out of the body.
A whole branch of the cosmetics industry is devoted to creams and gels which help to disguise or improve appearances of without actually changing it in any permanent way.
Doctors agree that the only long term answer is diet and exercise.
This means preventing the formation of the excess fat in the body which can later turn into cellulite so that it never has the chance to form in the first place.
Eating right makes it possible to control your weight so that unwanted pounds are not added on.
Exercise is also essential in keeping the body firm and toned in appearance.
What regimen of diet and exercise will work best for you depends on where your problem areas are located and other factors unique to you and personal appearance goals.
