Hong Kong Troops

Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee celebrations featured representatives from around the British Empire, including troops from Hong Kong.

At the 1897 Diamond Jubilee celebrations for Queen Victoria, a theme was the growth of the British Empire during her 60-year reign. Representatives from distant reaches of the British Empire arrived in London to great fanfare, and troops from distant colonies participated in the celebrations.

In this photograph showing the Diamond Jubilee procession, troops from the Hong Kong and Straits Settlement march through the streets of London.
