Today we have so many communication gadgets that we can talk to anyone, anywhere at any time.
In fact, we could be on the subway on our way to work and with our handheld device we could be texting the auto insurance agent and start asking about our auto insurance rates and if there is an increase coming our way.
We would be able to check and see if our next payment is due or if the last payment had been reached and credited to our account.
You have the option of speaking, chatting or texting with a live agent or you can send an email and they will send you an email response within 48 hours.
How convenient is this becoming for us? When I am at my parents house they are older and have a harder time accepting the advanced technology.
I am not quite sure if it is because the handheld devices have too many buttons or if it is because they still prefer the social aspect of customer service.
I prefer to do their business on-line because I can get through it faster and with the internet it takes me one third of the time.
My parents will call the companies while I am there and we will ask the same questions that I can the information on if I were to text the company.
One day I hope they will come out with a simple device for the older people where you only have to answer yes or no questions.
Maybe then they might want to try it.
They do like the webcam and they are able to use it to see the grandchildren so that is a step in the right direction.
In the meantime, when it comes to straightening out their bills and asking questions about their auto insurance and the premiums I will continue to text the company when I am not with my parents.
Periodically, I do like to check free auto insurance rates online so I can keep tabs on the various rates for my parents.
This way I will know if they are paying too much.
