How to Give Sliding Mirror Doors a Personality That Fits Your Home

Many homeowners take great care to decorate and stylize their homes in a particular manner.
The addition of sliding mirror doors to one or more of your homes bedrooms does not have to upset the look you have so carefully crafted.
There are many styles and sizes to choose from, that can actually enhance your room's magic through the art of color and reflection.
The first way to compliment an older style home is with glass etching.
You can do this yourself if you have a knack for creativity and a little cash for a few tools.
There is nothing hard about glass etching; it just takes patience and a good eye.
For those of you who are not so daring, many professionals specialize in creating looks and effects that compliment vintage homes.
Like a tattoo artist, a pro should offer you a catalog of choices when it comes to stylizing your mirror.
Make sure to request a look through their portfolio as well and do not simply rely on computer generated images of what they say they can do.
The second way is to try a painted look.
This style goes very well with rustic, country styled homes and southern style mesas.
Choose colors that complement the colors in the room.
If you like patterns, try stenciling around the outside to create a boarder effect.
Squares and triangles work well for southern styles while dashes, paisleys and stars work well for rustic homes.
In a country home a boarder of roosters or your favorite farm animal can warm up the cold personality of a mirrored door.
For mirrored wardrobe doors try applying a wood stained lattice for a Victorian or Indian framed effect around the mirror.
There are many natural colors to choose from and they adhere nicely with a bit of glue.
You will also need raised corner blocks to complete this look, without them, the seams of the lattice look unfinished where they meet, creating a most undesirable effect.
For those that have a princess at heart or loads of extra cash, you can try a crystal mirror effect with thin flat back crystal and stone; Swarovski's crystals are beautiful for this look.
It takes a while to place and glue but the work is well worth it when complete.
Make sure to mark the placement of the stones on the sliding mirror doors before you begin to ensure that the shape you have imagined stays true to form.
