If you are a motorcycle rider then you will already know the joy of being able to roam the countryside and feel that you have the utmost freedom.
When you combine that with camping you have the ultimate experience of freedom.
After all that's why we campers go camping in the first place to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life and experience some freedom in the countryside.
Camping with your motorcycle is now becoming more and more popular.
So what equipment will I need? Well it is imperative that you have the right gear with you, you do not want to get laden down with unnecessary baggage.
Ensure that you have a small lightweight camping tent.
These are often used by campers on foot and hikers.
They are extremely good and efficient as they weigh next to nothing but can protect you well from the elements.
Ensure that you have a compact sleeping bag, mummy bags are now a popular choice as they are a lot warmer than the conventional rectangular sleeping bag of old.
What about cooking food? Well ensure that you take a small camping stove with you.
You can get lightweight aluminium camping stoves with a single burner that will do the job perfectly.
Compliment this with an aluminium cook-set and utensils for preparing your meals.
Make sure you have saddle bags or a storage facility on your bike, this is essential for camping with your motorcycle.
You will need a heavy duty waterproof type of bag, this way you can add all of your gear such as your tent and sleeping bag onto your bike with the minimum of fuss.
Will I need to take anything else? There are some essentials in my view that you need to consider taking with you for your camping trip which would include; spare clothes and toiletries, a motorcycle tool kit with all the multi-function tools.
These are not only useful for your bike but also once you are on the camp site for tasks such as opening tin cans, setting up your tent etc.
Ensure you take a map with you for your journey.
I find it is a good idea to make a list before I set off on my camping trip as to what camping gear I will or won't need.
You really don't want to be in a situation where you are over burdened with items, as you will struggle to get to the campsite at all.
Choose your items carefully and make sure they fit on your motorcycle comfortably.
Once you have done this exercise a few times you will be all set for many happy camping trips on the road.
