Food is such an irresistible commodity that a lot of patience and tolerance is required to desist from eating. Food becomes the root of all evil when one realises that food is the behind all our actions. All our actions, whether we work for a living, or play a game of tennis, gravitate to getting enough to eat, or digesting what we have eaten. Food becomes the bone of contention in all kinds of settings as in hostels, or even in homes, where people fight over a few morsels of food. It is eating less than what is required or the desire to eat more than what is required that causes most of the contention in the world. the discussion on the merits and demerits of eating have dominated coffee tables and dinner tables all over the world.
The world is becoming aware of these disorders resulting from a reduced intake of food or an excessive intake of food. It is a remain that is yet to be exploded that eating disorders affect only young ladies. It afflicts all humans regardless of their gender or age or social class. As itself, eating is not a disorder, but it gives rise to several disorders that could have serious consequences on the individual. These and many more disorders would remain mere names without a detailed analysis of each of these. Orthorexia nervosa is a disorder where the individual is concerned about consuming a good quality of food; Diabulimia remains another eating disorder where levels of insulin are manipulated to control weight. Rumination syndrome is where the individual repeatedly vomits food. Binge eating disorders are largely the result of excessive eating and lack of proper exercise. Bulimia nervosa is the condition where there is an adequate output when one vomits accompanied by excessive eating. Anorexia nervosa is accompanied by a phobia to gain weight accompanied by a denial to maintain a healthy weight.
The list of eating disorders is by no means exhaustive and the description could go on and on and on. eating disorders need to be analysed carefully to be treated successfully. There could be something wrong with one's psychology, or one's outlook towards life in general. There could be a severe medical condition that would requires immediate attention. Recuperating from diseases or illnesses requires one to feed on tons of food; this could be where eating disorders could begin.
