How to Use Capital One Points for Hotels

    • 1). Book a trip. When paying for your airfare or travel plans, use your Capital One card for airfare and hotel from whichever website or travel agency you choose.

    • 2). Calculate the miles needed. Find out how many miles, or points, you have accumulated. Add two zeros to the price of your hotel price. If the hotel per night is $140, add two zeroes to make it worth 14,000 miles.

    • 3). Redeem the miles. Exchange your miles online or by phone. Get reimbursed for your purchase for hotel costs.

    • 4). Check your credit statement from Capital One. Confirm that Capital One reimbursed the hotel cost: Your account should be credited for the entire purchase. Use your miles to pay for more than hotels and travel costs---donate to charities or buy necessary merchandise using your Capital One card.

    • 5). Earn more frequent flyer miles or reward points. Redeem the points for airline discounts or a free stay at participating hotels. 1 mile per dollar spent on purchases up to 1,000 each month. Save money by applying for a travel credit if you are a frequent traveler.
