Wind turbine prices are still high and they need to come down in order to be affordable by the majority of people. If we are truly going to experience an energy renaissance brought about by wind energy and other forms of renewable power, then wind turbine prices are surely going to play a large role in that. We must keep in mind that an energy revolution will occur whether we are on board or not. We know that fossil fuels are fading fast and were going to have to come up with something else to make our energy. Renewable energy sources like wind turbines seem to be the best alternative at the moment.
These are the 3 factors that will cause wind turbine prices to come down...
Government subsidies - Whether we like it or not, the best way to move into the future of renewable energy production at home is through subsidies of some kind by the government. Every time fuels have shifted from one thing to another worldwide they have always done so because of the price being lower. However, we cannot wait around this time for something new to come along because there doesn't seem to be anything available out there that we can readily burned in these power plants to take the place of fossil fuels. Therefore, this time in history is perfect in one sense in that we are not looking for a fuel to burn up, but we are trying to create electricity through means that are sustainable.
Lower wind velocity environments and how home wind turbines can be made to work there - The sooner wind turbines can extract power from very low wind conditions the better off we all will be. Imagine being able to have a wind turbine that would start creating power at less than a couple of miles per hour. While that is conceivably possible and there are some units that do that even now, it is very expensive.
Easing of permitting restrictions - This may have to be done by government intervention as well. We know it is in our national best interest to get renewable energy up and growing as quickly as possible. Therefore, it may be the right thing to do to compensate individuals and businesses for moving to wind energy sooner than later.
In conclusion, wind turbine prices are on the way down and that is in large part due to improvements in these 3 areas.
