The worst disservice you can impose upon yourself is in thinking that just because you have a handicap, you can't compete in today's fierce business market! That's utter nonsense! If anything, you should rejoice in your handicap regardless of what it is because it gives you an advantage over those who are not.
Think about that for a moment - what possible advantage could being handicapped have over being "normal"? My friends, the possibilities are endless when put into the perspective of a work from home business that's yours! If I may share some background with you, 2 years ago, I suffered 2 heart attacks and since then I have been diagnosed with Diabetes, Cognitive Disability, Sleep Apnea and Heart Disease so I know from whence I speak! And that's just the short version of all my doctor's appointments.
But guess what, life is not over and I have the benefit of my many years of experience to share with everyone that will listen because someone needs that message! It's a terrible thing for anyone to come to the realization that the skills they were once praised for in a conventional work environment are fading and are slowly replaced with questioning your own ability, self doubt, fear, etc.
It wasn't easy for me to hear my doctor tell me that I could no longer work in a traditional work environment due to my diminishing cognitive abilities.
All those years of algebra, geometry, trig, and numbers logic - gone! So what! That doesn't mean my handicap has in any way hampered my ability to help those who aren't as fortunate as myself - you know, the so called "normal" people! Being handicapped yet owning my own work from home business brings me a satisfaction that few people get to experience.
I am not bound by conventional business wisdoms or ideology, I am able to focus better on the things I do and pay particular attention to the details because of my "shortcomings".
Details that may in fact be lost on someone of normal abilities.
Let's put this into perspective.
Every morning I can compete equally with Bill Gates, Ted Turner and other giants of Industry and Technology from an office inside my home.
That's hard to fathom isn't it? But that's the real beauty of this - its simplicity.
No one cares if you're handicapped or not.
You're not judged by the company you keep, the color of your skin, or the neighborhood or country in which you live.
You are measured instead by your desire, your drive and your ambition.
It would be so much simpler if this is how life really was - but we all know better.
Regardless of whom you are or what you do, turn your handicap into something that works for you and not against you! Your own self pity will cause your demise faster than if given by someone else.
You've got something to offer - we all do! Finding out what it is sometimes can be the tricky part.
The biggest disservice you'll do is in not sharing your gift with someone else that could really benefit from it.
On the internet today there is more information about more things that anyone could possibly peruse in their lifetime.
You can find the help you need.
You can find a way to clear the hurdles.
You can find a mentor.
There isn't much room for "can't" and staring blindly out the window is no kind of life.
Don't ever think you're not vital! Think about your most favorite person in the whole world, someone you idolize.
Think about this old truth - you both put your pants on the same way.
Granted we may have different tailors, but you get the point.
Being handicapped should always be a beginning and not an end to a story.
Life is too short for that kind of thinking and you should never allow yourself to be caught in that quagmire.
You've got too many things to see and do yet and new experiences to be enjoyed!
