    La Comedia Dinner Theater

    • Located in the Midwest city of Springboro, Ohio, the La Comedia Dinner Theater, one of the largest professional dinner theater showcases found in this portion of the United States, opened in 1975. Hosting between six and nine different types of productions on an annual basis, the La Comedia Dinner Theater's first production was "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum." While enjoying such Broadway-type musicals like "Cinderella," "Fiddler on the Roof" and "Damn Yankees," patrons can try out the chef's deep-fried Norwegian cod platter and the freshly baked bread featured on the dinner menu. Some of the house specials include the sweet potato souffle as well as the signature house salad served with papaya chutney dressing.

    The Mystery Train

    • Situated in a large Union cafe at the Union Station section of Kansas City, Missouri, The Mystery Train presents a daily murder mystery play to its guests that also features a full steak dinner. Designed to resemble an old-time passenger train, the dining environment includes oak table furniture and old photographs on the walls of the dining room. Some of the murder mystery plays performed at The Mystery Train include "The Art of Murder," "Terror on the Toyland Express" and "Ghost Train." Guests can order their dinner items off of the main menu before the play begins, including grilled chicken, vegetarian lasagna and top sirloin and desserts include chocolate cake and fresh fruit cheesecake.

    Circa 21 Dinner Playhouse

    • Originally opened in 1921 as a vaudeville live theater and silent movie house, the Circa 21 Dinner Playhouse was re-opened in June 1977 as a dinner theater. Containing a 1,566-seat auditorium along with a dance salon and a cigar store, the Circa 21 Dinner Playhouse is located in the Midwest city of Rock Island, Illinois. Undergoing a $225,000 renovation in 2001, this dinner theater also serves a full buffet every night. The evening buffet selection consists of carved roast pork, redskin mashed potatoes, cocktail meatballs, roast pork and corn cobettes. When guests watch the afternoon matinee performance, they can order roasted chicken platters and have the plates served at their tables.
