Crepe-Style Paper Rose Centerpiece-There is no need to spend big bucks on a real bouquet of roses.
Your guests will be amazed that you could make this centerpiece using crepe-style paper.
You will need: Red crepe paper (at least 30″ long) Green crepe paper (at least 12″ long) Green wired stem Scissors Glue A vase for your roses Instructions for the project: Start by folding the red crepe paper in half lengthwise to form a long thin strip.
Starting 3″ from the right end, you must fold the end of the paper downwards.
Carefully roll the paper around that end roughly 3 times (remember you are forming the center of the rose).
With the long end of the paper, gently fold it backwards and then continue to roll.
You are now working on shaping the rose petals for your flowers.
Hold the bottom part tightly so it does not become loose.
Continue to repeat the above step (folding back and rolling) until you are getting close to the end of the paper.
When you get to the end, be sure to leave approximately 2 ½ inches unrolled.
You will then wrap the extra crepe paper around the red stem (the little piece you folded down at the start).
Carefully insert the green wired stem at the bottom of your rose.
Cut a small piece from the green paper, and then cut out an X-shaped "leaf" for the bottom of the rose.
Carefully poke a hole through the middle of the X with the end of the stem and then slide the X up the stem and glue it to the bottom part of the rose.
Be sure to not use a lot of glue, just dab a bit.
Cut the remainder of the green paper in half in order to make it thinner.
Keep in mind that it should be at least 6″ long.
Gently dab some glue on the end of one piece and begin to cover the red colored stem with the green.
You can just gently twist it downwards to cover the stem.
You can leave about 2 inches untwisted to make another leaf but this is optional.
Optional step: Gently apply some glue to the remainder of the green colored paper, and cut it into a leaf shape.
