Love Across the Border

This article is not meant to change anyone's thinking or to make people feel and think like me, it is just to share what I went through recently.

Not everyone would share such incident of their life neither I would have ever but as ‘he' says "there is some force", perhaps, which is compelling me to write about it.

It may seem blunt but I will have to say that my words ‘love across border' are not about love between human to human, brotherhood or other valuable forms of love but I am talking about the feeling which may appear tiny to many people specially in front of other broader issues, debates and topics.

I have shared love across border and I have seen changing expressions on the faces who always taught me about ‘unity in diversity' and ‘humanity or nature is above religion, country or any other division not created by nature'. I saw extreme side of my mother which was not digestible for me. It was more shocking to see my sibling being equally extreme in spite of being a youth.

I don't have to force myself to recall the incidence when I was a kid and eagerly went up to a Muslim friend of mine to wish her for Diwali, she appeared equally exited but my mother needed to inform me "Its not her festival". That was the only day I saw my father shouting on mummy in front of all the guests for sowing differences in a child's mind.
Though she was just trying to save me from confusions, that incident left a deep imprint on me about ‘equality' and 'against differences' and I was barely 7 years old then. I heard the same person saying that he may bury his daughter alive if he will smell this relation growing.

From childhood it has been so many times I heard Pakistan is full of extremists and people around me appeared neutral to me but I experienced the opposite these days.

I could not understand why a friend of mine whose closest friend is a Muslim said that he may kill his sister if she would ever feel for even an Indian Muslim.

Well these were the so-called after effects which was bound to happen. Though I was shocked by the intensity of odds and reactions but I have some other things to share as well.

A relation or a bond where we didn't ever see each other but just heard. It seems quite immature, I really don't know whether it wasn't or it was but one thing we both are sure about is that the love was there and is there.

We talked about life and atmosphere in Pakistan and Hindustan, about metros and villages in both the countries, about norms and faith of both the religion and the fact that spirituality is above all, we had talks about extreme and neutral elements, the T.V. channels, the roads, buildings, songs, meaning of the songs which were hard to understand, meaning of the prayers we both performed daily and skipped sometimes, some other talks like daily menu, bitching about bosses, landscape outside the window, posters in the room, scenes around while walking down the roads, different stations, ticket system, slums in our respective cities, Distance between Lahore to Delhi or Karachi to Mumbai, how he can or can't visit India. The conclusion for those things was nothing but the conclusion was something for some things

And apart from the fact that he spent thousands on his phone bills the conclusion is -Today I know ‘his' country better; above that I know my country better.
And I guess today we both are better person.

I wish other such couples (few of which I guess I know) all the best and a bright future.
