What"s the Difference Plasma TV and LED TV? Find Out Before Buying

Now is a great time to buy a television. There is such a wide range of television types that the choice can seem overwhelming. Two of the most popular kinds of television are plasma and LED. These incorporate the latest designs in graphics, color and other enhancements. Coming home to a high quality television set after a long day's work is one of life's simple pleasures. However, each person has a slightly different idea of what he or she is looking for in the experience. Fortunately, it is not that difficult to get a plasma TV and LED TV comparison. And once you're empowered with this information you can decide which one is best for you.

What's the Difference Plasma TV and LED TV

So, you are deciding to buy a new television. But, which one do you get? You decide you want either a Plasma or a LED television but you don't know the differences between the three. Well, here are a few of the differences to help you make a more informed decision.

The two technologies are different, particularly with respect to how each screen is lit. With LED televisions, they use light emitting diodes either behind or around the rim of the television instead of using fluorescent lights directly behind the screen as in LCD televisions. In plasma HDTVs, the phosphors that create the image on the screen light up themselves, and don't require backlighting.

So now you know the difference but you are still thinking, "Which television is best for me?"

Picture Quality

In our opinion and the industry, Plasma leads the pack when it comes to picture quality, producing excellent colors and viewing angles at the same time. Plasma TVs provide the best contrast ratio producing deeper blacks. This matters especially if you watch movies in a dark room. Unlike LED TVs, Plasmas do not get blurry even when you view them at close range.

Price Point

If price is a major issue for you when shopping for your television, the winner here is going to be the Plasma televisions. Ever since the introduction of LED televisions, the price tag on Plasma's has gone down significantly. LED TVs are the most expensive offering the latest bells and whistles available in TVs such as wireless Internet and streaming videos.

Power Consumption, Size and Weight

As far as size is concerned both LED and Plasma TVs are available in large sizes. Experts say recommend Plasmas over LED TVs if you choose to have a screen size of 42 inches and above. LED TVs have the lowest energy consumption, slimmest and most lightweight among TVs right now but getting those features costs a premium. Plasma's use more energy to give each pixel a brighter look. They also weigh heavier than LED TVs but can still be mounted on a wall just the same.

Both televisions provide amazing quality and have their pros and cons. It is up to you to decide which TV has the features that are most important to you.
