Is Utah Motorcycle Insurance Required?

    Bodily Injury Liability

    • Motorcycle bodily injury liability pays for injuries and medical expenses incurred by other drivers, passengers and pedestrians when you cause an accident.

    Property Damage Liability

    • Property damage pays for damage you cause to another vehicle, as well as personal property carried in or on the vehicle. It also pays for property such as damaged fences, utility poles and street signs.

    Required Bodily Injury Limits

    • Motorcyclists must carry bodily injury liability limits of at least $25,000 per person and $50,000 per accident. This means if one person is injured, it will pay up to $25,000 for his injuries, but if multiple people are hurt, the policy will pay out a combined maximum of $50,000.

    Required Property Damage Limits

    • Utah requires motorcyclists to carry at least $15,000 in property damage liability.

    Combined Single Limit

    • Motorcyclists can choose to buy a single limit of at least $65,000. This amount is the most the policy will pay for injuries and property damage in a single accident.
