There are already studies that claim medical benefits from coffee.
In recent years, prevention or sometimes even coffee as a cure for gout has been added to the medical benefits of drinking coffee.
Studies have recently shown that drinking coffee can actually prevent gout from developing in some people.
Studies reveal that the more coffee a person drinks, the lower his risks of developing gout gets.
There seem to be a direct connection between insulin levels and uric acid levels.
Coffee has already been linked to lowering of insulin levels.
It has been observed that as the insulin levels decrease, the uric acid levels also decrease.
These results, in turn, have also effectively shutdown the belief that the caffeine in coffee raises uric acid levels.
The studies have been based a lot of data gathered from more than 45,000 men of 40 years and older in the medical profession.
In that study, only 750 or so participants have developed gout.
The studies also reveal that the phenol chlorogenic acid in coffee might be responsible for this effect as it is a powerful antioxidant.
Caffeine in coffee has been ruled out since the studies also made the participant drink tea which also contains caffeine and yet tea drinkers had no effect on gout as coffee drinkers did.
In the studies, participants who consumed one to two cups of coffee a day showed a significant drop in uric acid levels.
The studies did not say nor made specific mention whether the coffee was black or mixed with some other additives or specific type of coffee.
The studies are also quick to point out that the results are confined to older men of 40 years and above.
Gout is most rampant in this category.
However, the studies have not revealed any indication that the same coffee benefits against gout should hold true in women or younger males.
The studies also have cautioned that these results may need to be further researched before it is considered to be medically sound advice.
And as always, seek medical professional help when embarking on a coffee drinking habit as there may be other medical conditions that you may have to watch out for in your case.
