- 1). Log onto a computer that has Internet access. Find a website that compares and reviews vehicles. These websites have experts test cars and add a personal opinion to the mix allowing consumers to get a general understanding of what type of car it is and how it stands alongside similar cars.
- 2). Find two to three vehicles to compare using the website. Any make or model can be selected; however, choose three vehicles that are similar. For example, when looking for an economical car, choose three hybrid vehicles to find out which one is the best. Comparisons will normally show the vehicle's gas mileage, quarter mile time and price, to name a few.
- 3). Read expert reviews from any website that specializes in reviewing vehicles. Car reviews are more in depth than comparisons. The car review will show the true colors of the car, such as how it handles, accelerates and is designed. Experts will normally place an opinion into the mix, which may sometimes be biased. Interpret the facts of the car as opposed to personal opinions when reading reviews on cars.
- 4). Personally visit an automotive dealer and test drive the cars that are best suited for you and the household. Inspect the features each car has when comparing them in person. Sit inside the driver's and passengers' seats to determine the comfort level of the car. Take each car out for a test drive to get a feel for how each car drives on the road. Seeing and driving the car in person will make comparing two or three cars much easier than simply reading about them.
