Hurray For My Health Insurance.

I am a single 35 year old mom and have a 4 year old son with MS and to this day we have never had any problems with the insurance company except for one. You hear so many stories of insurance companies dropping their customers but you wont get no complaints from me. I hope I am not the exception.

We were out of town one weekend and John (my son) seem to be showing some strange symptoms while we were driving that night. Got him to the hotel, medicated him and he feel fast asleep. It was late so I waited till morning to make arrangements to see a local specialist.

That morning I called our doctors office to ask if they could help me with who was on my provider list in the area I was vacationing in that they could recommend. Being so far from home I was worried that I may need to pay in full for any visit or medication that was recommended. The doctors office was busy and before I knew it, it was late afternoon and John seemed to be acting worse.

The phone rings and apparently the doctors office had contacted my insurance company and there was an agent on the line. There was only one doctors office that specialized in children with MS but did not accept my insurance. Johns symptoms were getting extreme by the minute. The agent was going to have to get back to me I was going to the nearest hospital if I had to.

Before I could pack us into the vehicle I get a call on my cell and its the agent, apparently he contacted the local specialist and worked out an arrangement for me to be covered. Thankfully it was only the dose of medication John was taking that was making him unbalanced and disoriented. About 5 months later the insurance company expanded the provider coverage and it has been smooth sailing ever since. Its been almost 2 years i haven't even had to call the insurance company to dispute a claim or have trouble finding a provider. Everything we have needed insurance has paid for without any objections. So, am I the only exception.
