Each year, your child celebrates another milestone.
Kids are creative and they always are getting into new things each year.
As you plan your son or daughter's milestone birthdays, be sure to ask them what kinds of things they are into at that particular time.
In our house, we have a tradition where we ask our kids every six months a series of questions like what is your favorite TV Show, favorite food, favorite movie, favorite characters etc.
We keep a journal that we can look back on, and see how their interests change over the years.
You'd be surprised at how often the answers change.
Our daughter liked Dora when she was 4, by the time she was 5, it was history.
Deciding on a theme to celebrate the milestone can be extremely challenging especially in our culture of changing trends in media, and technology.
Where do you begin to start? The best way is to first determine their interests through questions, like we talked about above, and once you find this out, you can narrow the list of options available.
It always best to ask as many questions as you can think of.
Here are some suggestions: What is your favorite TV Show or Shows? What is your favorite movie? What is your favorite character? What is your favorite song or artist? There are so many stores that have themed merchandise for parties.
You can find everything from decorations, cakes, and party favors, to plates, and napkins, streamers, and hats, all of which will help you plan the perfect event.
Once you have the questions answered, you can determine what store merchandise is available based on the answers, and begin narrowing the list of ideas.
Finally, ask yourself what kinds of things you can do with the theme.
What kind of games and activities do you want to coordinate? Do you want them to coincide with the theme that you have chosen? A great example is a "racing" themed birthday celebration, where you can have wooden car races, songs, and decorating.
A girl's party theme might include a cinderella theme, where the girls all dress up as their favorite princess, and the host conducts a royal ball.
The possibilities are endless for themed birthdays.
The key is asking a ton of questions, and find something that you can do a lot with.
A little careful planning in advance will help you easily narrow the field of choices.
Good luck!
