- Drum brakes are a braking system wherein the wheel's revolution slows as curved brake shoes press against the interior of a connected metal drum. Air drum brakes work by S-cams or wedges. The most commonly used air brakes today are S-cam drum brakes, so-called because of the S shape of their cams.
- This innovative air brake design differs from the standard S-Cam brakes. It offers better pressure distribution by continually keeping the brake in proper adjustment through a wholly internal adjustment system. Its unique cam design applies the brake shoe uniformly sliding the shoe down a sloping ramp on a cam to uniformly touch the brake drum. This air brake extends brake life, provides better vehicle safety and fewer repairs.
- Air-activated disc brakes are brakes in which pressurized air act on the brake chamber and slack adjuster (similar to S-cam brakes) rotating a power screw. The power screw holds the rotor or disc firmly between the brake lining pads of a large C-clamp resembling a caliper.
