Instructions for Making a Cat Trap

    • 1). Figure out the size of the trap you want to make. This depends on the size of the cats you are trying to capture. Take into account the size of a cat's tail. A standard size is 3-feet wide by 2-feet deep.

    • 2). Saw eight pieces of 1-by-1-inch wood. It will form the base frame and the top frame of the trap. If you are making the standard 3-foot-by-2-foot trap you will need to cut four 3-foot pieces and four 2-foot pieces.

    • 3). Hammer nails into the wood frame pieces to secure the top and bottom bases.

    • 4). Saw four pieces of wood to make the corners of the cat trap. Each piece should be about 1-foot long, which should be big enough. If you are trying to catch larger cats, make the pieces longer so the cats are not injured.

    • 5). Nail each corner piece to the top frame and the bottom base.

    • 6). Saw a piece of plywood to make the sliding door on one side of the trap. Make sliding rails on either side using 1-by-1-inch wood. This makes it easy to transfer a captured cat into a carrier.

    • 7). Put nylon netting around the trap, leaving the door and bottom of the trap uncovered. Secure with nails.

    • 8). Saw a 1-foot piece of 1-by-1-inch wood and put it under the trap to be used as a prop to lift it. Tie a long piece of string to the wood so you can sit far from the trap and pull the string to close it when a cat enters.

    • 9). Place food in the trap to lure cats inside.
