These days, weddings are becoming more and more casual.
It was just the other day I went to a wedding where everyone was casually dressed.
There was a burger bar for the food and everyone treated it like a back yard barbeque rather than a formal affair.
Of course, this is not typical of weddings; however, it illustrates the point that they are much more laid back than they used to be.
People find themselves asking if certain things are appropriate for weddings or not.
For instance, one question that many people have is whether or not it is appropriate to take a camera harness to a wedding.
A few questions need to be asked before that question can be answered.
For instance, are you the wedding photographer? Often, the wedding photographer is not formally dressed for the occasion.
This is because the photographer needs to be in comfortable clothes in order to do his or her job.
Also, it helps to avoid confusion as to whether or not the photographer is a photographer or a regular guest.
All wedding photographers should use whatever equipment helps them to get their jobs done and this includes a camera harness.
Another question to ask is how formal is the affair? Are the bride and groom the type of people who are OK with a more casual look or does it appear they prefer more dressy looks? You can tell what type of people they are by the type of wedding they have.
If they are at an expensive and fancy venue, they will more likely appreciate that you refrain from wearing your camera equipment around.
If they are hosting in a beautiful park, it is something that can be gotten away with rather easily.
The bottom line is that a wedding is a place to take cameras.
This event is hopefully a once in a lifetime event for the happy couple.
They will want to remember every part of it and they will want their guests to be carrying as many cameras as possible.
Camera harness strapping systems do not look terrible - especially plain black ones.
They can blend in rather easily with dark clothing and provide the assurance that no photo opportunity will be missed since it will keep the camera equipment right at arm's length.
Indeed, if in doubt, it's better to wear a camera harness and get the picture than to not wear it and miss out on the memories.
