Naturally, many people think that it's better to have one big authority site in the niche.
While this is not completely false, we are going to go further.
In fact, you want to build a site that "speak" to a specific group in the niche.
Let's take a finance site as an example.
You could have a big authority site about every single aspect of the finance topic, and other websites geared that are more focused.
You are narrowing your focus.
You would have a site geared towards beginners, another geared towards retired people, another one that is a membership site, another just for women...
You can build a lot of these sites.
After a year, you will reach a big percentage of the people in this niche.
Anyway, for now, you need to start with a small site.
This is the big secret of niche affiliate marketing that nobody will tell you.
Look at my affiliate marketing site for example, it's a sub niche of Internet marketing which is also a sub niche of make money online.
My website is geared towards beginners.
It doesn't appeal to someone who already earn $10000 per month online...
If I wanted to target those people, I would make another site with their specific needs.
Does that make sense? That's why it's really important to choose a niche that is profitable and that you like as well because you will get bored if you go after a niche just for the money (you can still outsource).
Beware, if you are a complete affiliate marketing beginner, you need to focus on one site only.
Once it's profitable, you can start a second niche site.
