Pediatric patients are treated sooner with acetaminophen or ibuprofen when presenting with fever than those who do not have a fever but do have pain. We believe this difference is associated with continuing and prevailing unnecessary concerns about fever and the prevalence of oligoanalgesia, the undertreatment of pain.
