- 1). Find a certified fingerprint roller. While there are no Live Scan locations in Palm Springs itself, there are several in surrounding Riverside County. Look at the California Office of the Attorney General website's listing under Fingerprint Services Locations and Hours of Operation, and choose a location.
- 2). You also can make an appointment online with Live Scan's online appointment system. Appointments must be made at least 4 hours in advance. If you make an appointment online, you can receive a discount off Live Scan's usual fingerprinting fee. You will, however, have to pay a processing fee. While appointments can make the process quicker, fingerprinting offices also welcome walk-in customers.
- 3). Go to the Live Scan location of your choice. Bring a "Request For Live Scan Service" Form, obtained from an agency or employer, or downloaded from the Internet. Complete the form before you arrive. You will also need a valid photo ID, including a driver's license or motor vehicle ID card, a passport, military identification or a green card. You can pay with a major credit card, check, money order or the exact amount in cash.
Fees vary based on the type of service you need, the requesting agency and whether you make a reservation online. Fee information is available on the request form. The California Department of Justice fee is $32 in 2010 and the FBI fee is $19. Additional processing fees are charged by Live Scan.
