The Top 3 Most Cuddly Cat Breeds

Many people have an impression of cats as being aloof and independent, only coming to their owners when they need feeding or their cat litter changing.
The truth is far different and many cats need attention and cuddles from their owners to be happy in life.
While some breeds tend to be more outgoing and independent, a good number are real cuddlers who crave attention and affection just for its own sake.
One thing to remember - when talking about breed traits, this is in no way guaranteeing that every cat within that breeds acts in exactly the same manner.
Cats are individuals just as humans and while breed generalisations are based on information over numerous generations, it is in no way ensures that a cat will behave in a certain way! Persian The Persian is one of the most well known and popular breeds of cat around the world.
They tend to be placid in their temperament and need a lot of love and affection from their owners.
In fact, breeders often say that these cats will suffer if they are left home alone all day and can become depressed.
Persians often choose a certain person who will be 'theirs' and will be the primary recipient of their attention - but they are also friendly with all others in the household.
The main consideration when adopting a Persian is their grooming needs.
Because they have such beautiful long coats, they need a helping hand in maintaining it and this usually means daily grooming sessions.
They may also need an occasional bath and help to clean their faces as the flat face of the breed leaves them prone to weeping eyes.
Ragdoll The Ragdoll is a cross breed thought to have originated with the crossing of a Persian and a Birman.
The resulting traits were then selectively bred in future generations to create the cat we know as the Ragdoll.
And why is it called the Ragdoll? Because when it is picked up it goes limp in your arms just like a ragdoll would! These cats are very gentle and affectionate and best suited to being an indoor cat, as they never seem to master the art of being outside with confidence.
They will pick a favourite person and love nothing better than to cuddle up on their lap but will also be loving and affectionate with everyone in the household.
They are a great breed to introduce someone otherwise wary of cats to as they are so placid.
Sphynx The Sphynx may not look cuddly but this strange cat breed is a very needy and affectionate animal.
The Sphynx is normally called hairless but this isn't entirely true as it does have a fine downy coat that feels a little like the material of a chamois cloth.
They are quite vocal and playful so like to spend time playing with their owners as well as cuddling and are very entertaining! Due to their hairlessness, the Sphynx do need a little specialist care and attention.
They are prone to sunburn and feel the cold, as there is no coat to protect them so they need to be guarded against this.
Due to their lack of coat, they also have greasy skin so need regular washing to help combat this.
