How to Cool Your Body

    • 1). Consume liquids to stay hydrated. Cool liquids will also feel soothing.

    • 2). Apply cool wet towels, moisturizer, aloe or hydrocortisone cream to sunburn. Hydrocortisone can relieve pain and swelling.

    • 3). Take your temperature if you believe you have a fever. Mayo Clinic advises, "Fevers by themselves may not be a cause for alarm--or a reason to call a doctor. Yet there are some circumstances when you should seek medical advice for your baby, your child or yourself."

Adults with a fever above 103 degrees Fahrenheit should contact their doctor. Any fever that has lasted longer than three days should also be reported to the doctor.

    • 4). Soak in a lukewarm bath for high fevers. Cold water may cause you to shiver and raise your body temperature further.

    • 5). Take a cold shower if the heat is not medically related and there is no risk of increasing fever.
