- The Assisted-living Conversion Program provides grants to private, nonprofit owners of multi-unit homes. The goal of this program is to convert some of the available space in these units into assisted living facilities for the elderly. Before the organization can apply for the grant, they must be licensed and regulated by the state where they operate. Further, the facility must have enough room to accommodate living spaces, a kitchen, a recreation area and office spaces. Funds may be used for general conversion purposes and for the creation of common or office spaces. Grant amounts will vary on need.
