- Flat, black spots developing on your cat's lips, ears, or eyelids, bumps on the skin, or flesh-colored growths on the skin are examples of feline skin tags.
- Skin tags might be the result of a number of conditions, including allergies, dermatitis, parasitic or fungal infections, lentigo (freckles) or tumors.
- Skin tags can develop rapidly and can cause discomfort or go unnoticed by your cat. The tag might cause itching or pain and can bleed or become infected if continuously disturbed by your cat.
- A veterinarian will examine the tag and your cat. Tests might include biopsy, analysis of any discharge produced by the growth, surgical removal of the growth, antibiotics or, in the case of malignant growths, chemotherapy.
- Skin tags should be taken seriously and examined by a veterinarian immediately to rule out more serious conditions, such as cancer.
