With so many different styles and conditions of backpacks on the market how do you determine which one is right for you? Did you know that there are only two basic differences between backpacks? The main differences are that they have an external frame and some have an internal frame.
Depending on the activities that you are doing there can be quite a significant difference in the type of Backpack that you want to use. Of course, a lot of it depends on the personal preference of the wearer. However, they do perform different functions easier.
Heat: When you are just wondering around the woods with a backpack on then you are going to generate heat. The more of a load that you place in your back pack the more heat you are going to generate. If, you are hiking and the air is relatively cold then having the extra heat generation snug to your back is great. However, if you are hiking in the hottest parts of the year, the heat may not be such a welcome. The internal frame High Sierra backpacks are designed to fit snug to your body allowing heat to be trapped between you and the bag. The external frame backpacks are there to allow the freedom and movement which allows air flow between your back and air.
Load: The load you want to carry in a backpack can greatly influence the type you are going to choose. The external frame backpacks are designed to carry a large amount of weight. So, if you plan on going for a day or longer hike than having the ability to carry everything you need from survival gear to an emergency kit is welcome.
The Internal frame Swerve backpacks are designed to fit a lot more snugly to your body. This actually will allow you to carry weight just not as much. This is great for when you are hiking over large terrains and need to get into snug corners.
Internal Frame: The internal frame is designed to fit snuggly next to the hips of the person wearing it. This allows the loads center of gravity to be evenly distributed within the backpack. The hidden internal frames of aluminum and other material give it the look and feel many want when doing business, at school, or other locations. Because of the slimmer profile it allows the backpacker to move in a variety of different ways quickly and easily. This can become very beneficial if you are hiking short distances, skiing, or other activities.
External Frame: These types of backpacks are wonderful if you need to carry a significant load on your back. They are quite roomy and offer a lot more storage area then the internal frame packs. These are great for long treks that require you to carry your camping equipment or other supplies with you. You can use the external frame to tie down a bed, tent, or anything else you need to carry on the outside. Te ability to be well organized and carry everything you need with you is great for the longer treks
