Preparing For the Party - 3 Things to Consider

There is No Business like the Party Business! Party Planners all go about their business in various ways and creative types always seem to be big picture type of people.
With that being said, there are certain steps that preparing for a Party or Event must follow as the Event draws near.
The details of an Event, of course, vary from Event to Event, that is what makes Party Planning such a rush.
We adapt and change based on the client and the Event and, along the way, we develop new contacts and experiences.
But there are elements of the Party Planning process that will never change, and as it is when directing a play, the "Rehearsal Schedule" should be implemented before the Event Planning ever starts.
Tip 1.
When the Event is "Set in Stone," sit down and brainstorm all of the elements of the Event and assign the people who are responsible for each of the steps.
This includes outside vendors that you will have to contact, as well.
You can use various MindMapping techniques, which is always helpful, to help you have a visual representation of the Event.
Being the creative types, we usually need a visual look at an Event, at least that is what I have always found.
Tip 2.
Set a "Rehearsal Timetable.
" This is essentially a day-by-day look at where your actors, your team, should be in the development of each of their characters prior to the event.
I say, actors, because the great thing about Events is that while a team functions in perhaps similar capacities from Event to Event, they will conform themselves to the nature of the Event.
That is why it is important for you as the Director to make sure the Team Members know where they should be in the planning process.
Tip 3.
The week before the Event, bring all of the people together, Team Members and Vendors for a dry run to make sure as many of the potential challenges as possible are addressed.
While this schedule wont always flush out the challenges of the Events you are Planning, they will keep you focused of the eventual outcome.
Remember that Party Planning is all about bringing a sense of fun and excitement into peoples lives, don't allow you planning process to be any different.
Remember, Life is a Party, you just have to know how to Plan it!
