On 23rd November, two cars collided at the intersection of State Street and Lafayette Boulevard, near the federal courthouse. The crash happened shortly after 1 p.m. near the federal courthouse. A white Chevrolet sedan with New York license plates was traveling east on State Street when it collided with that woman's vehicle going south on Lafayette.

The force of the crash flipped over the SUV, spreading debris across the intersection. The white sedan sustained heavy front-end damage and its airbags deployed.

Two teenage passengers in Cardona's vehicle were taken to Bridgeport Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries and released. The 24-year-old driver and the 23-year-old passenger of the white sedan were not injured.

The intersection and several surrounding streets were blocked off for hours after the crash as police investigated. Police did not give the names of any of the people involved.
