- Students enrolled in the University of Texas at Austin's Department of Radio, Film and TV have several scholarship opportunities. These include the Paul Pierre Standifer Endowed Scholarship in Film Production, awarded to a department junior or senior seeking a film production career, and the Randy Kelleher Endowed Scholarship in Film, also for a junior or senior planning a career in video or film production. Both scholarships are financially needs-based and require a 3.0 GPA for consideration.
- This New Jersey-based nonprofit foundation awards several film or related media scholarships. The King Family Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship awards up to $7,000 to college juniors and seniors majoring in film or TV. Students must demonstrate financial need, academic merit and potential to succeed in the field for scholarship consideration. The annual $10,000 The King Family Foundation/NYU Heinemann Award goes to a outstanding senior film major at New York University. The King Family Foundation/USC and UCLA Post Production Awards grants $10,000 each for completion of film projects by outstanding students in the Masters of Fine Arts program at both the University of California at Los Angeles and the University of Southern California.
- Young women interested in film industry careers may receive scholarships from this foundation, dedicated to increasing opportunities for women in the film industry. The Verna Fields Memorial Fellowship helps fund the completion of a graduate student's thesis film at UCLA. Administered by Chapman University, the Meredith Mac Rae Memorial Scholarship is awarded to the winner of an essay contest by graduate female film students on what winning this scholarship would mean. At USC, the Eleanor Perry Writing Award recognizes an undergraduate or graduate female students' screenplay that "best depicts women in a present-day or historical perspective."
- Students attending the Montana State University School of Film and Photography may compete for several scholarships. The Ron Roe Memorial Scholarship Endowment is named for a media executive, and the Carl Swartz Memorial Endowment remembers a TV music editor. University scholarships also are available for incoming freshmen who declare a film major. Applicants must compose a 500-word-or-less statement about themselves and their career goals and creative work, along with film or video tape submissions.
