- 1). Contact the Clerk's Office in the court where the child support order was originally created. See Resources to obtain a number for a county clerk in your area.
- 2). Ask the clerk to check the record, confirming the child support order should be terminated. If the support order has expired under the terms of the order, the Clerk's Office will terminate the order and you can stop paying child support.
- 3). Provide the clerk with the child's birthdate or any other information to confirm emancipation, such as a copy of an emancipation order or high school diploma if the information is missing or not validated.
- 4). File a Motion for Modification process through the Clerk's Office if the clerk is unable to terminate child support payments.
- 5). Pay any appropriate fees.
