Having had a family of severe of severe hardening of the arteries, I can tell you that avoiding this condition at all costs is the best option, with taking steps to halt and possible reverse its progression being a distant second.
When someone is in the advanced stages of severe hardening of the arteries blood flow is serious compromised to one or more areas of the body.
The reduced blood flow creates a cascade of every worsening symptoms such as shortness of breath, fluid accumulation around the ankles or in the lungs, inadequate kidney function causing skin and eye discoloration, chest pain, excessive sweating, increased sensitivity to heat, vulnerability to heat stroke, anxiety, chronic fatigue, difficulty speaking and thinking clearly, and the list goes on.
But what should scare people the most is the inevitable results of these symptoms which is a heart attack, stroke, kidney failure, and/or liver failure.
So it just makes good sense that once any hint of severe hardening of the arteries is suspected a doctor's office visit should be scheduled, and a treatment plan formulated.
So now that we know some of the symptoms of severe hardening of the arteries we a should move on to what exactly is happening in our bodies to produce the symptoms.
Our bodies are a supplied with blood and oxygen by a superhighway of arteries and veins.
When hardening of the arteries occurs one or more of these blood vessels has narrowed to a point where it can no longer achieve its designated task efficiently.
This narrowing is caused initially by a buildup of fat on the inside wall which over time becomes hardened by fibrous tissue and calcification.
This obstruction both keeps blood from flowing as it should, increases the chances of a blood clot forming, or opens the door to the possibility that a piece of the obstruction could break off and lodge in a smaller vessel, or vein connective intersection, causing a heart attack or stroke.
Another factor that makes severe hardening of the arteries really problematic is that it may have started during childhood, thus reaching a dangerous stage earlier in life than what would normally be anticipated.
The lesson here is just because you may be in your 20s, 30s, or 40s don't think that severe hardening of the arteries couldn't happen to you, because it can.
