- 1). Find some women interested in joining. Ask friends and family, and post a notice at your local library. Collect names and numbers of women interested. Once you have several names and numbers, you have enough people to start planning a book club.
- 2). Determine how often you will meet. This can and will depend on the types of women in the club. Are they mostly retirees with a lot of time on their hands? Weekly meetings might be set up. If most women are busy, family types, monthly meetings will need to be arranged. Be sure to leave enough time to not only read the book, but for each member to find the book as well.
- 3). Find a location. One option is to meet a local restaurant, or even the library. Many libraries have meeting rooms available. Another option is to alternate with the members hosting the meeting at their house.
- 4). Create a list of books and authors that you would like to read within the book club. If you want to run the show, you can choose a book to discuss for each meeting. Make certain that the book is one that is easily attainable through the library or Amazon's website. If you would like to change things up a bit, have a different person choose the next book at each meeting. For instance, each person who hosts the meeting at their house might choose the book to discuss at that meeting.
- 5). Create an email list for book club members to communicate. This works great especially if a meeting needs to be cancelled, rescheduled, or book club members just want to chat.
