How to Check The Status of an Alabama Tax Refund

    • 1). Visit the Alabama Department of Revenue's website and access the "Where's My Refund" online tool (see References).

    • 2). Enter your Social Security number and click the radio button next to the tax form you used to file your state taxes. If you cannot remember your Social Security number or the tax form, locate the information on a copy of your state tax return.

    • 3). Click the radio button next to your filing status, which can be found on your state tax return copy.

    • 4). Enter the refund amount in the appropriate field and click "Submit." Enter only whole dollars in this field.

    • 5). Review the status of your tax refund. If the system is unable to locate your tax information, click "Reset" and resubmit your information.
