Fish Oil and Cholesterol - Do You Need to Get Your LDL Down?

There are literally thousands of studies concerning fish oil and cholesterol, according to the National Institutes of Health.
Most researchers hope to find the "perfect" diet for heart health and to reduce other age-related diseases.
Socialized governments are the sponsors of many of these studies, because they hope to reduce the cost of caring for the elderly by giving doctors the information that they need to help their patients improve their own health.
It is believed that many age-related diseases and even a number of different types of cancer are completely preventable through healthy diet, regular physical activity and possibly dietary supplementation.
Another reason for the fish oil and cholesterol studies has to do with the risks associated with statin drugs.
Currently, doctors are prescribing statins at an unbelievable pace, even to very young people, simply because they are obese.
It may be difficult to get a patient to change his or her diet.
But, it shouldn't be too hard to get them to take a dietary supplement, a much safer choice than statins.
The major risk factor associated with statins is coenzyme Q10 depletion.
Many doctors are unaware that statins can cause depletion of coenzyme Q10.
But, in the original studies, pharmaceutical companies mentioned it and suggested that co-supplementation should be considered.
If COQ10 levels are depleted, the result is muscle death.
There is no real need to take the risk.
According to the studies concerning natural fish oil and cholesterol reduction, a daily supplement raises HDL or good cholesterol levels and lowers LDL of bad ones.
It is actually the HDL to LDL ratio that is most important.
Eating a healthy diet and taking a supplement seems like the best choice to me.
