There are several types of alternative currency in the US that are used by different communities today. These currencies are used when purchasing commodities and making various financial transactions. Using these denominations, individuals and companies can make exchanges instead of using national money. Some of the models used in the States today include BerkShares, local exchange trading systems, and time dollar.

Some individuals and communities use these to keep cash flowing despite current economic conditions. There is always a demand for commodities and services today which means that a medium of exchange will also be needed.
At present, several communities have printed their own paper notes for their own purposes. These have become very useful to people and businesses to continue their transactions and other kinds of exchanges. Regardless of the economic situations, people can still obtain the services and goods they need.
