- 1). Purchase blank 5-inch-by-7-inch card stock, or smaller if you have a design in mind, from your local hobby and craft store. Make sure you have at least five to 10 extra pieces, in case you have some issues with printing or designing your own cards.
- 2). Compose a variety of designs on a seperate sheet of paper that corralate with your event, whether it is for Christmas, Easter, birthdays or a fundraising event for your child's school. Use stickers, markers, stencils or stamps to add your creative touch to these samples, so you can perfect the exact design that will go on the cards.
- 3). Scan the design in its finished state, and download the scanned file to a computer that is attached to a printer. Adjust the settings on the computer that relate to the printing size, and adjust the paper size to your 5-inch-by-7-inch card stock.
- 4). Orient the scanned picture onto the 5-inch-by-7-inch paper stock on your computer "Preview" menu, and make sure that all the margins and the overall appearance of the invitation look the way you want them to, on the screen. If you want to add a text box, open the file on the computer, add a text box to the image, then insert the relevant information about your event.
- 5). Finalize your image and spell-check your text, then preview the document again to verify that everything is correct. Fill the printer with you card stock, then print off as many copies as you need. Purchase proper envelopes from your local office supply store, and add a response card if necessary.
