Sometimes, it is very difficult for single Grandparents to see their Grandchildren.
You may have new responsibilities as a single grandparent.
Here are two more ways to keep in touch with them.
While I was Holiday shopping, I recently discovered self- record audio books.
You can record your voice while reading.
The books are fun, and as you read the story on each page you have the option of keeping your reading, or you can re-record the story or change a particular character's voice, by reading it with a voice appropriate to that character.
At the end of the book, you can lock in your recording so it can't be changed unless a Phillips screw driver is used to open the recording devise.
Your grandchild can take out his or her book, open the page and hear your voice reading the book.
Your grandchild will love to hear your voice.
Whether you live next door, in their home, or over an hour away, you will be helping your grandchild hear what good reading sounds like.
That will help their reading skills as they read along with you at home;however, the best thing is continued contact with you.
Another way to keep in touch with your Grandchildren is to subscribe to one of the online calling programs.
You can ask your Son or Daughter when it would be convenient to call them online.
Set up a specific time to call so the children will be available.
You will see a screen pop up, telling you that they are online, and you click on "call.
" You will hear a ring, and they can click on"answer" and you can begin talking.
I played Simon Says with my Grandson, and every time he gets an online call from me he asks to play.
It's wonderful because you actually get to see them, and talk to them, live! They can show you the work they have done, read a poem to you or show you their latest piece of art.
Remember, you are on speaker.
There may be other people in the room and keep your attention on your Grandchildren.
Parents will be close by, so later, you also get a chance to speak with them.
What are two ways to stay in touch with your Grandchildren? Get them an audio book and read to them.
They will hear your voice.
Next, call them on your computer.
You can see and speak with them.
It is an easy way to let them know how much you love and miss them.
Your Grandchildren are special.
Good luck!
