- 1). Obtain the teen's full name, address and any other contact information.
- 2). Visit a website that allows you to search criminal records. Keep in mind that some sites are free while others charge a fee.
- 3). Input the information in the site's search field and click "Search." If the teenager has a record, his name will appear, along with detailed information about any offenses.
- 1). Download, print and fill out the Applicant Information Form. It is available for download at the Federal Bureau of Investigation website. Employers need something like this to keep on record as it is also much more thorough and credible.
- 2). Provide a copy of your fingerprints with the FD-258 fingerprint form, available from the FBI website. A trained technician will obtain your prints and put them on the form.
- 3). Pay for the criminal record check. The FBI accepts money orders, cashier's checks and credit cards. They do not take cash or personal checks.
- 4). Mail the completed forms and payments to the FBI CJIS Division.
